The Gateway National Recreation Area is a 26,607-acre United States National Recreation Area in New York City and Monmouth County, New Jersey. Created in 1972 to preserve a newly-created national seashore in the New York metropolitan area, the park includes sections in Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Sandy Hook.
