Gaspar Palicki

Gaspar Palicki (1875-1942) was a Polish-American immigrant and Democratic political activist. Born in Torun, he emigrated to the United States in 1897 and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he worked as a shoemaker before becoming a union activist. Palicki supported the Democratic Party's laissez-faire attitude towards strikes as well as the party's openness towards non-Protestant immigration, and he became a ward boss in a majority-Eastern and Central European part of the city. He died in 1942.
