
Gary S. Rice (1920-?) was a US Army Private who served with, United States Army 101st Airborne Division,506th PIR during World War II.
Biography[]
Rice born in Texas in 1920. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Rice joined the US Army airborne troops. There he was assigned to 506th PIR, Baker Company.
In june 6 1944, Rice jumped into Normandy on D-Day. He then went to the town of Ramelle under the command of Captain Jennings. Jennings was later killed in the bombings, leaving Corporal Henderson in command.
Rice, who fought at the Battle of Ramelle, and Garrity placed sticky bombs on a German Tiger tank, which blew up the tracks. He then helped immobilize the tank. He later retreats into the hellhole despite the Panzerschreck's explosion. A few days later he returned to his unit. He took part in Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. He survived the war and returned home.
