Gareth "Gary" Edward Lunn (7 July 1970 - 5 November 2019) was a Canadian mercenary for CICADA and one of the Sarajevo Six; members of the SIGMA unit that committed hundreds of heinous war crimes in Sarajevo, eventually being marked for death by an unknown contact. The ICA dispatched Agent 47, their best operative, to eliminate Lunn at his current posting in Sapienza, Italy. 47 successfully eliminated him by grabbing him from behind and hyperextending his neck, snapping it.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Gareth Edward Lunn was born on July 7, 1970, in Toronto, Canada to an extremely poor, unemployed family. Lunn fled his home and took to a life of crime, selling drugs and beating people on behalf of loan sharks. When he was nearly killed in a job gone wrong, he decided to put his natural bloodlust to use. He joined the Canadian Army at the age of 18 and rose up the ranks quickly, eventually qualifying for and passing special forces tryouts. He would operate in numerous war zones across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Eventually, he was dishonorably discharged for shooting a group of civilians in Somalia out of fear that they were terrorists. The PMC CICADA offered the disgraced Lunn a position in the company, and was given an invitation to CICADA's six-man black ops unit: SIGMA.

The Sarajevo Six[]

SIGMA was deployed in 1992 to the Siege of Sarajevo to assist the Republika Srpska forces. The unit committed hundreds of war crimes over the course of the siege. Lunn served as SIGMA's enforcer, being one of their main fighters. Due to the unit's elusive nature, they were never identified in the post-war tribunals, and each member received millions upon millions of dollars from both war spoils and CICADA officials.

Death[]

Lunn left CICADA soon after, utilizing his newfound wealth to buy various items purely for vanity. He eventually ran out of money and was forced into debt, nearly sending him back to where he was as a teenager. Lunn then put his skills back on the market, rejoining CICADA and working for several companies over the course of 30 years. He eventually reached an extended contract with the biotech company Ether, working for them at their secret Sapienza laboratory. Lunn was assigned as the security captain, commanding the Villa Caruso security staff in order to make sure no leaks exit and no intruders enter. Unfortunately for him, an unknown contact issued contracts on the entirety of the Sarajevo Six, and the ICA was informed of his role at Sapienza.

On the 5th of November, Agent 47 was sent to Sapienza for a multitude of objectives, including the death of Lunn. 47 infiltrated the facility, entering it via a freshly blown hole in a stone wall, and waited for Lunn in the break room. He would then be grabbed from behind by 47, his neck being snapped. His body was then deposited in a nearby box, with the Agent leaving the break room and continuing his objectives.

Aftermath[]

An alert was sent out after Lunn went missing, CICADA staff finding the corpse of their superior in the break room's box. His death was covered up, and an internal investigation by both CICADA and Ether found no culprit. On December of that year, extensive files detailing SIGMA's involvement in the Siege of Sarajevo were leaked to the public. CICADA immediately went into damage control, disavowing the unit and preventing further damage to the PMC's reputation.
