Gao Shuxun (1897-19 January 1972) was a Kuomintang general from Hebei who commanded the 39th Army Group during the Second Sino-Japanese War.
Biography[]
Gao Shuxun was born in 1897 in Hebei, China, and he became a commander of the Kuomintang in 1926 during the Warlord Era. In 1930, Chiang Kai-shek sent him to fight against the warlords during the Central Plains War, and Gao would later take over the 39th Army Group for the war with Japan. On 10 November 1945, he defected to the Communist Party of China after Deng Xiaoping and the Central Committe gave clearance. In 1947, he was appointed to the North China Military Region, and he would later serve as Governor of Hebei. He died in Beijing in 1972.
