Gustavo "G-Rod" Rodriguez (1980 – 2016) was a Mexican-American soldier and guard for the post-apocalyptic ruthless organization, the Saviors, during the global zombie apocalypse in the 2010’s.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Gustavo "G-Rod" Rodriguez was born in 1980 in the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, a neighborhood known for its high crime rates and gang violence. G-Rod grew up in a broken home, with little support from his parents, who were often absent or involved in their own troubles. His mother struggled with substance abuse, and his father was frequently in and out of prison, making G-Rod's early years challenging and unstable. From a young age, G-Rod turned to the streets for a sense of belonging and protection.

At the age of 14, G-Rod was recruited into one of the most notorious local gangs, "The Vatos," known for their violent rivalry with other factions in the area. His initiation was brutal, marking him with gang tattoos and teaching him the harsh rules of survival in a lawless world. He quickly became known for his physical strength, relentless work ethic, and willingness to fight. As he grew older, his reputation as a reliable enforcer spread, and he became one of the gang’s most trusted members.

Outbreak of Apocalypse (2010’s)[]

When the apocalypse hit, G-Rod was caught in the chaos like many others. The world descended into anarchy, and the societal collapse he had witnessed in his youth seemed to be unfolding again, but on a much larger scale. The streets he once knew were now overrun by the walkers, and the criminal gangs that once ruled the area began to dissolve as survivors scattered or fell victim to the new world.

G-Rod, being no stranger to violence and survival, quickly adapted to this new world. He scavenged, killed, and fought to keep himself alive. During the early years of the outbreak, he formed a loose band of survivors, mostly fellow ex-gang members and hardened criminals who had little regard for the societal collapse, only for survival. However, the group was eventually fragmented, leaving G-Rod on his own.

Joining the Saviors[]

In the aftermath of his group’s collapse, G-Rod found himself wandering aimlessly, questioning his place in the new world. That was when he crossed paths with the Saviors, a group led by the ruthless Negan in Virginia. They were different from other groups G-Rod had encountered—they operated with a sense of order and purpose. For someone like G-Rod, who had spent most of his life in gangs, the Saviors provided a familiar sense of structure, power, and authority.

G-Rod was quickly recruited into their ranks due to his combat experience, physical strength, and ruthless attitude. His loyalty was bought with promises of food, protection, and power. As a part of the Saviors, he rose to a low-ranking guard position, stationed at one of their satellite outposts. His role was to protect the lower levels, simple grunt work. He was known among his fellow Saviors for his gang-like mentality and his penchant for intimidation, often using his tattoos to symbolize his violent past, a bit meatheated at times.

Demise (2016)[]

During a surprise assault on the outpost by Rick Grimes’s survivor group, one of the assailants managed to overpower one of his friends and entered the room where G-Rod is stationed. G-Rod, unaware of the threat, was preparing to retaliate against the gunshots when he found himself face-to-face with him.

Before he could react, G-Rod was suddenly shot in the head by Rosita, one of the assailants from Alexandria. His brain matter sprayed the wall and his death was swift. His body was later disposed of by the Saviors in a mass burning to avoid infection and cover up the evidence of their losses at the outpost.
