Gæirmund Thorarinsson

Gæirmund Thorarinsson (848-880) was a Danish settler who lived in the Danelaw town of Heimiliborg (Northampton) during the late 9th century AD. In 880, he and most of the other able-bodied Norsemen of the city were called to arms to protect the city from King Alfred the Great and his invading West Saxon army, and he was slain during the ensuing Saxon assault on the city.
