Fuad Shukr (1962-30 July 2024) was a senior Hezbollah leader and the commander of its forces in South Lebanon.
Biography[]
Fuad Shukr was born in Baalbek, Lebanon in 1962, and he was involved with the Islamic Jihad Organization and Hezbollah from their inception during the 1980s, planning out the 1983 Beirut barracks bombings and becoming a close associate of Imad Mughniyah. He became a senior advisor on military affairs to Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and commanded Hezbollah forces in South Lebanon, serving on the group's Jihad Council. During the 2023 Israel-Hezbollah conflict, Shukr directed Hezbollah's rocket attacks on Israel, for which he was targeted in the 2024 Haret Hreik airstrike in Beirut. His apartment building was struck by three missiles, and his body was pulled from the rubble the following day.
