Friedrich Sixt von Armin (27 November 1851-30 September 1936) was a General of the Imperial German Army who fought in both the Franco-Prussian War and World War I.
Biography[]
Friedrich Sixt von Armin was born on 27 November 1851 in Wetzlar, Prussia, and he enlisted in a grenadier regiment of the Prussian Army in 1870. He was seriously wounded at the Battle of Gravelotte during the Franco-Prussian War, and he was promoted to Lieutenant. In 1913, he was promoted to the rank of General in the Imperial German Army, having steadily risen through the ranks over the past few decades. During World War I, he commanded a corps during the war with France, and he led the Fourth Army during the Battle of Passchendaele and the Spring Offensive. Sixt von Armin retired after the war, and his son Hans-Heinrich Sixt von Armin would become a general of Nazi Germany.
