
Friedrich Olbricht (4 October 1888 – 21 July 1944) was a General der Infanterie of the Wehrmacht of Nazi Germany during World War II. He was killed for his role in Operation Valkyrie.
Biography[]
Friedrich Olbricht was born on 4 October 1888 in Leisnig, Saxony, in the German Empire. In 1907 he joined the German 106th Infantry Regiment and became a captain at the end of World War I, and he was one of the few German officers who supported the Weimar Republic. In 1938 he took over the German 24th Infantry Division of the Wehrmacht of Nazi Germany, but during World War II, he aided Claus von Stauffenberg in the Operation Valkyrie bomb plot against Adolf Hitler on 20 July 1944. Olbricht was arrested at 9:00 PM for his role in the plot and was executed by firing squad.
