The Frentani were an Italic tribe which lived between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea on the east coast of Italy. They were descended from the Samnites to the west, and they were reduced to submission by the Roman Republic in 319 BC and turned into vassals. They fought alongside the Romans during the Samnite Wars and the Punic Wars, but they were crushed during the Social War of the 1st century BC and later Romanized.
