French Revolution of 1848

The French Revolution of 1848 was a series of revolutionary events in France from 22 February to 2 December 1848 that culminated in the overthrow of Louis Philippe I's July Monarchy and the establishment of the French Second Republic. Revolutionaries marched into the streets and overthrew King Louis Philippe in February, and an elected government ruled over France afterwards; however, the political situation still remained unstable. On 23 June, the Paris workers rose up against the government after it adopted more conservative policies, and 10,000 people were killed or injured in the "June Days uprising". The revolution ended on 2 December when Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte was elected President of France. In just four years, he would create the Second French Empire.
