The French Liberals were a liberal faction of French politics during the 19th century, existing from 1848 to 1878. The Liberals advocated full citizenship for all immigrants in France, making them even more liberal than the Orleanists, one of the more powerful political parties under the July Monarchy. The faction was similar to the French Republicans in some ways, as both were opposed to the military, favored full citizenship, and protectionist trade policies, although they disagreed on religious policy and economic policy.
