The French Constitution of 1793 was the second constitution of the First French Republic, implemented on 24 June 1793 to replace the previous French Constitution of 1791. The constitution promised democratization and wealth redistribution, but the Committee of Public Safety implemented emergency rule to allow for it to conduct the Reign of Terror and to fight against the coalition during the French Revolutionary Wars. As a result of the 1794 Thermidorian Reaction, it was replaced by the French Constitution of 1795.
