Flag of France 2

The French Congo was a colony ruled by France from 30 November 1882 to 13-17 August 1960, being a part of French Equatorial Africa from 1910 to 1960. The region includes Gabon, the Republic of the Congo, and the Central African Republic, and the colony ruled over the Bateke people north of the Congo River after the Kingdom of Kongo was subjugated. Ivory, rubber, and timber were the three main exports, and the locals were nearly enslaved. Brazzaville was the capital until Gabon, the Congo, and the CAR were granted independence in August 1960.
