
Freeman Clarke (22 March 1809 – 24 June 1887) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-NY 28) from 4 March 1863 to 3 March 1865 (succeeding Robert B. Van Valkenburgh and preceding Roswell Hart) and from 4 March 1871 to 3 March 1873 (succeeding Charles H. Holmes and preceding Horace B. Smith), and from NY-29 from 4 March 1873 to 3 March 1875 (succeeding Seth Wakeman and preceding Charles C.B. Walker).
Biography[]
Freeman Clarke was born in Troy, New York in 1809, and he worked as a bank cashier in Albion before moving to Rochester in 1845. He became a bank, railroad, telegraph, and trust director in Rochester, and he served as a delegate to the 1852 Whig National Convention in Baltimore before serving in the US House of Representatives from 1863 to 1865 and from 1871 to 1875. He died in 1887.
