The Freedom Union (UW) was a liberal political party in Poland that existed from 1994 to 2005. The party was formed as the successor of the Democratic Union of Poland and the Solidarity labor union, and it advocated a free market economy, individual liberty, pro-Europeanism, rapid privatization of state-owned industries, and decentralization of the government. At its height in 1997, the party held 60/460 Sejm seats and 8/100 Senate seats, and it merged into the Civic Platform party in 2005.
