
Frederico Calles (1682-) was a Spanish pirate who was active in the East Indies during the Golden Age of Piracy.
Biography[]
Frederico Calles was born in Manila, Philippines, Spain in 1682 to a family of Spanish merchants, and he decided to become a merchant as well. As a teenager, he served on merchant ships, but he was captured by pirates one day and was pressed into their service. By the age of eighteen, Calles was in command of a fleet of three ships off the coast of Borneo, and he mostly targeted Portuguese Navy ships due to Spain's war with Portugal during the War of the Spanish Succession.
