Frederick Louis of Wurttemberg-Winnental (5 November 1690-19 September 1734) was a general of the Holy Roman Empire.
Biography[]
Frederick Louis of Wurttemberg-Winnental was born in Stuttgart, Wurttemberg in 1690, the third son of Frederick Charles of Wurttemberg-Winnental. Trained in warfare in Saxony, he served in the Dutch Army during the War of the Spanish Succession, in the Saxon army during the Great Northern War, and in the Reichsarmee during the Ottoman wars. In 1732, he led a Genoese army to suppress a Corsican insurrection, and he commanded an army corps in Italy during the War of the Polish Succession. He succeeded Claude Florimond de Mercy after the latter's death at the Battle of San Pietro, only to be killed at the Battle of Guastalla.
