Frederic W. Lincoln Jr.

Frederic Walker Lincoln Jr. (27 February 1817-12 September 1898) was the Republican Mayor of Boston from 1858 to 1861 (succeeding Alexander H. Rice and preceding Joseph Wightman) and from 1863 to 1867 (succeeding Wightman and preceding Otis Norcross).

Biography[]

Frederic Walker Lincoln Jr. was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1817, and he worked as a manufacturer before serving as Mayor from 1858 to 1861 and from 1863 to 1867. While he refused to provide police protection for an abolitionist meeting in December 1860, he suppressed Irish anti-draft riots in July 1863. He died in 1898.
