Fred Vincent

Fred Vincent (died 1955) was an enforcer for the Tommasino clan. In 1948, he was bribed by the Barzini crime family to assassinate Michael Corleone, but his car bomb instead killed his wife, Apollonia Vitelli. He fled to the United States with the help of the Barzinis, but he was killed by one of Corleone's hitmen in 1955.

Biography[]

Fred Vincent's birth name was "Fabrizio", and he was born in Sicily. He served in the Regia Marina during World War II, and his ship was captured by the British Royal Navy. He later became an enforcer for the Tommasino clan, and Fabrizio and his friend Calo were assigned as Corleone crime family mobster Michael Corleone's bodyguards during his exile in Sicily from 1946 to 1948. Shortly after Michael's arrival, he married local girl Apollonia Vitelli, much to Fabrizio's jealousy. Fabrizio was later bribed by the Barzini crime family to assassinate Corleone, but the car bomb instead killed Apollonia. An anguished Fabrizio fled into New York, sponsored by the Barzinis.

Fabrizio anglicized his name to "Fred Vincent", and he became the owner of a pizzeria in Buffalo, New York. In 1955, following the end of the Five Families War, the vanquished Barzinis informed on Vincent to Michael Corleone. Corleone sent hitman Al Neri to assassinate Vincent, and Vincent was killed by a car bomb (in the same manner as Apollonia Vitelli).
