Fred Hamill (1907-1953) was a Captain of the US Army pathfinders during World War II. Hamill served with the US 101st Airborne Division during the Operation Overlord invasion of Normandy, and he commanded units of the 101st during the Battle of Neuville on 9 June 1944, when the Americans took the town of Neuville after heavy fighting. Hamill would continue to lead the paratroopers during the fighting in Normandy, and eventually in the rest of France.
