
Frank Pais (7 December 1934-30 July 1957) was a Cuban revolutionary leader during the Cuban Revolution. He was murdered by police in Santiago at the age of 22, and he is considered to be a martyr in Cuba.
Biography[]
Frank Pais was the son of a Protestant pastor, and his family immigrated to Cuba from Galicia, Spain. While studying architecture, he became a student leader, and in 1954 he became a teacher at Salvador College, and he connected his Baptist faith to Jose Marti's revolutionary ideals. Pais joined the 26th of July Movement of Fidel Castro during the Cuban Revolution, and he rallied students against Fulgencio Batista's regime. On 30 July 1957, he was shot dead by a policeman a month after his brother Josue was killed, and he is called a martyr in Cuba.
