Frank Cubitoso (born 19 May 1944) was the chief of the FBI's Organized Crime Branch in Newark, New Jersey. His branch were assigned to investigate the DiMeo crime family.
Biography[]
Frank Cubitoso was born in New York City on May 19th 1944 to a family of Italian descent. He later moved to Newark and joined the FBI's Organized Crime Branch in the 1970s. Cubitoso was promoted as the branch's chief in the late 1980s.
In 1999, the FBI bugged Green Grove residential home and uncovered conversations between Livia Soprano and Corrado Soprano leading to an attempt on DiMeo boss Tony Soprano's life. Cubitoso, agents Dwight Harris and Frank Grasso relayed this information to Soprano.
During the bust out of Davey Scatino's indoor sporting goods store, Soprano ordered boxes of airline tickets on Scatino's credit. He gave tickets to his mother Livia in order for her to move to Washington with her daughter Janice, but was apprehended at customs as the tickets were later found to be stolen. The FBI were made aware of this through informant Salvatore Bonpensiero, Cubitoso and his agents later arrested Soprano in his home on charges of wire fraud. Livia was to stand trial and testify against her son, but died in 2001 of a sudden stroke. The charges against Soprano were dropped and the FBI sent condolences at Livia's funeral.
In 2009, Cubitoso retired from the FBI.
