Frank Capone's death
Salvatore Capone was born on 16 July 1895, the second of the three Capone brothers; he was the brother of Al Capone and Ralph Capone. Frank and Al both joined Johnny Torrio's gang in New York City before moving to Chicago in 1918, and Frank Capone was sent to negotiate with the town council of Cicero, Illinois when the Chicago Outfit began to expand its operations to the Chicago suburb. Capone had his gangsters attack US Democratic Party voters to prevent them from electing an anti-American Mafia candidate, and he had his men assault the Democratic campaign headquarters. 70 plainclothes officers were sent to Cicero as a result, but they could not stop Al, Frank, and their associate Nelson Van Alden (who was using the pseudonym of "George Mueller") from attacking voters with billy clubs. On 1 April 1924, a small outfit of Chicago mobsters fought against a much larger mob of angry workers, and the Capone brothers were severely beaten. The fight was broken up when plainclothes special squad policemen arrived on the scene, cornering a wounded Capone with his back to a car. Capone was gunned down in a massive volley of buckshot and pistol shots, being shot dozens of times by the policemen.
