Franco Fantàsia (born in 1872) was an Italian captain in the Royal Italian Army during the occupation of Libya.

Biography[]

Franco Fantàsia was born in Italy in 1872. In 1892 he joined the Italian Royal Army during the First Italian-Ethiopian War. He fought in the Italian-Turkish War in 1911 and in World War I. In 1929, hi was the aide of general Rodolfo Graziani. He travelled to with Graziani and Prince Amedeo, Duke of Aosta to Beghazi after Graziani was appointed as new governor of Cirenaica by Benito Mussolini. He was present during all the attrocities commited by the army and the blackshirts against natives. Also it was him who hanged Omar al-Mukhtar in 1931.
