
Francisco de Moura Corte Real, 3rd Marquis of Castelo Rodrigo (1610-26 November 1675) was Governor-General of the Spanish Netherlands from 1664 to 1668, succeeding Luis de Benavides Carrillo and preceding Inigo Melchor de Velasco.
Biography[]
Francisco de Moura Corte Real was the son of Manuel de Moura Corte Real, and he was appointed ambassador to Vienna in 1651. In 1656, he became Duke of Nocera, and he served as Viceroy of Sardinia from 1657 to 1661, and he proceeded to serve as Governor-General of the Spanish Netherlands from 1664 to 1668. During his administration, France invaded the country during the War of Devolution, and he was dismissed as a result of the quick Spanish defeat. He died in 1675 at the age of 65.
