
Francisco Vidal Salinas (20 September 1953-) was Interior Minister of Chile from 2005 to 2006 and National Defense Minister from 2009 to 2010.
Biography[]
Francisco Vidal Salinas was born in Santiago, Chile in 1953, and he was active in the National Party of Chile during his youth. During his years as a history professor, he became a leftist, joining the Party for Democracy in 1987. He went on to serve as Undersecretary for Regional Development from 2000 to 2003, Interior Minister from 2005 to 2006, and National Defense Minister from 2009 to 2010. On 20 October 2020, he expressed his interest in running for the presidency.
