
Francisco Ruiz-Tagle (1790-23 March 1860) was President of Chile from 17 February to 31 March 1830, interrupting Jose Tomas Ovalle's terms. He was a member of the conservative Pelucones.
Biography[]
Francisco Antonio Pascual de la Ascenscion Ruiz de Tagle y Portales was born in Santiago, Chile in 1790, and he served as a Spanish Army militiaman during his youth. After the Battle of Maipu, he turned against his royalist family and joined the patriots, and he went on to serve as Finance Minister of Chile from 1828 to 1829. During the Chilean Civil War of 1829, he sided with the conservative Pelucones, and he served as President from February to March 1830, when he resigned due to health problems. He died in 1860.
