Fra Celio

Fra Celio was an Italian Catholic monk. During the papacy of Pope Alexander VI, he rang the Angelus bells, which were supposed to make every Christian stop what they were doing and pray. In 1503, he was visited by the Pope himself, an unexpected honor for Celio, and the Pope even briefly claimed that the two should switch places, as the Pope felt that he was called by God to the bells.
