Fort Boubastos was the principal Ptolemaic military garrison in the Faiyum Oasis in Egypt during the 1st century BC. The fortified garrison was commanded by Stavros Galanou during the 40s BC, and the garrison was used to oppress the farmers of Faiyum and extort their grain. In 48 BC, a rebel army attacked Fort Boubastos during the Battle of Faiyum, and the medjay Bayek assassinated Galanou and took over the fort, leading to the liberation of Faiyum.
