Florian Scheer

Florian Scheer (died 30 May 1929) was a German policeman who served in the Berlin Police during the Weimar era. Scheer was secretly affiliated with the Black Reichswehr, and he participated in the 1929 Operation Prangertag coup attempt in Berlin, where he and fellow policeman Bruno Wolter were to assassinate German and French foreign ministers Gustav Stresemann and Aristide Briand to inaugurate a monarchist takeover of the country. However, policeman Gereon Rath was able to incapacitate Scheer, but, before Rath could interrogate Scheer, Wolter shot Scheer in the head with his sniper rifle.
