Florence, Los Angeles is a neighborhood in south Los Angeles, California, home to over 46,000 residents. The neighborhood has a huge gang presence, supplemented by a high crime rate; it is characterized by small-time businesses, small, single-family houses, and a significant Mexican and Central American community. 69.8% of the population is Hispanic and 28.1% African-American, making up 97.9% of the population, and the proportions of Latinos and black people in the neighborhood were reckoned as a high figure for the county. Only 2.8% of Florence residents hold a four-year college degree, and there is a high percentage of people without a high school diploma in the neighborhood.
