Location of Flanders

Flanders is the Dutch-speaking northern region of Belgium, stretching from the Strait of Dover to the Maas River. Flanders was once ruled as the County of Flanders from 862 to 1795, and the region would become a part of Belgium after the 1830 Belgian Revolution. By the 21st century, Flanders would be more wealthy than the French-speaking Wallonia region to the south, and the region is fertile and flat, with 6,444,127 people living in the small region in 2015.
