Five Points Mission

The Five Points Mission was a Methodist mission located on 69 Madison Street in the Five Points neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, New York City. The mission was established by Pastor Alexander Raleigh in 1853 as the center of missionary and humanitarian enterprise in the neighborhood, and its primary purpose was poor relief, while it stated that it did not wish to force the Catholic majority to convert to Methodism. The mission provided housing, clothes, food, and education, and it provided 58 rooms for living space. The site of the mission remains the same, located next to the Chinese United Methodist Church.
