First Transcontinental Railroad

The First Transcontinental Railroad was a 1,907 mile-long railroad that ran from Council Bluffs, Iowa to San Francisco, California in the United States. The railroad was built from 1863 to 1869, mostly by the Chinese immigrant workers that were often called "Chinamen". The railroad helped in linking the Midwest to the American West, and it connected various parts of America with one route.
