
Fingal mac Gofraid (1022-1072) was Earl of Galloway from 1066 to 1072, preceding Comgal.
Biography[]
Fingal mac Gofraid was born in 1022, the son of Gofraid mac Amlaib meic Ragnaill. He was a Scottish Catholic of the Ui Imair dynasty, making him a descendant of the Norse Viking sea king Ivar the Boneless. In 1066, he became Earl of Galloway, while his father became King of Dyflin. In 1072, Fingal repulsed an Irish invasion of Mann, and he died that same year. He fathered Comgal of Carrick.
