Law and Justice (PiS) is a right-wing populist, national conservative, and Christian democratic political party in Poland. The party was founded by the twins Lech and Jaroslaw Kaczynski, and the Christian democratic Center Agreement party formed its core. The party supported a conservative and "law and order" agenda, embracing economic interventionism, social conservatism, and state Catholicism. The party lost several leaders, including Lech Kaczynski, in a 2010 plane crash near Smolensk. It nevertheless remained a very powerful party, opposing the liberal Civic Platform party.
