Bloods and Crips

Bloods and Crips

The Crips are an African-American gang that were founded in 1969 in Los Angeles, California by Raymond Washington and Stanley Williams. The gang grew to become one of the largest gangs in the country during the 1980s as a result of its involvement in the crack cocaine trade, and it established new markets in new areas and new cities, expanding to be one of the largest gangs in the United States. By 1999, there were over 600 Crips sets and over 30,000 gang members, and the gang had a bitter rivalry with the Bloods gang. The Crips allied with the Folk Nation, Gangster Disciples, La Raza Nation, and Black Guerrilla Family against the Bloods, People Nation, and Netas gangs.
