The 2018 Copala shootout occurred in Guerrero in 2018 during the Mexican Drug War. The Jalisco New Generation Cartel opened up an offensive against the Mexican Federal Police in southern Mexico, and their last target was the police pocket in Guerrero, which was held by 50 policemen. 150 CJNG gunmen attacked the police in Copala, and they took the plaza with 10 losses; they also seized $360,000 in the process.
