The Fifth Republic Movement (MVR) was a socialist political party in Venezuela which was founded in 1997 by Hugo Chavez as the military wing of the Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement-200. The movement supported a new constitution for the country, and, following Chavez's election in 1998, a new constitution was adopted in 1999, creating the Fifth Republic. In 2007, the party merged into the new United Socialist Party of Venezuela.
