Fermin Arevalo (died 1986) was a Mexican drug trafficker based in Ojinaga, Chihuahua during the 1970s and 1980s.
Biography[]
Fermin Arevalo was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, and he smuggled marijuana and other drugs into the United States for years. In 1953, upon seeing the young Pablo Acosta Villarreal being arrested by the Mexican Federal Police for attempting to smuggle 12 ounces of cocaine taped to his arm, Arevalo paid the young man's bail, as he did not believe he should be imprisoned for that little product. The two men became close friends and business partners, but this was ruined in 1986 when Acosta's hitman Marco de Haro murdered his son Lili (without Acosta's permission) after Acosta suspected Lili of stealing from him. Fermin retaliated by sending a man to kill Acosta, but Acosta survived and later kidnapped the wounded sicario from the hospital and had De Haro execute him after forcing him to confess Arevalo's culpability. Acosta, Amado Carrillo Fuentes, and their crew then ambushed Arevalo as he returned home, but Arevalo had already planned a counter-ambush, leading to an intense shootout. Arevalo succeeded in wounding Acosta, only for Amado to shoot him several times in the back and kill him.
