Fergus Colm was born in Ireland in 1946, and he later emigrated to the United States, settling in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Colm became a florist, owning "Town Florist", but he also became a member of the city's Irish Mob, selling drugs on the streets. One of his victims was the wife of Stephen MacRay, who he had introduced to drugs in order to keep her husband (an armed robber) under his control; Doris MacRay committed suicide in 2006. Stephen and Doris' son, Doug MacRay, would come to work for Colm alongside the rest of his own heist crew, consisting of Jem Coughlin, Albert MacGloan, and Desmond Elden.

Colm after being shot

In 2010, as MacRay considered retiring from the criminal life in order to patch up his relationship with bank manager Claire Keesey, Colm threatened to kill Claire if MacRay did not take part in one last heist, and he also revealed that he had made Doris MacRay an addict. MacRay agreed to take part in the 2010 Fenway Park heist, but threatened to kill Colm if anything happened to Claire. After most of the crew was killed in the heist, MacRay decided to kill Colm, knowing that Claire was not safe, and that he could not flee town if Colm was still alive. He headed to his flower shop and killed Colm's bodyguard, and he then called out for Colm. The two repeatedly shot at each other from a few feet away, and both of them were ultimately hit; however, MacRay was wearing a bulletproof vest. Colm collapsed against his flowers, and MacRay proceeded to shoot Colm in the groin (referencing Colm's earlier threat to "clip (his) balls". With Colm dead, MacRay was able to escape to Florida.
