Ferdinand-Wilhelm von Stein-Liebenstein zu Barchfeld (22 February 1895 – 1 March 1953) was a German Luftwaffe Generalmajor during World War II.
Biography[]
Ferdinand-Wilhelm von Stein-Liebenstein zu Barchfeld was born on 22 February 1895 in Hesse to a family of German nobles, and he served in the Imperial German Army before joining the German Empire's air force in 1916 during World War I. In 1934, he became a captain in the newly-formed Luftwaffe of Nazi Germany, and he joined the Ministry of Aviation in 1938. In December 1942, he was given command of the 18th Luftwaffe Field Division, but he entered the reserves in 1943. He ended the war as a Major-General, and he died in Soviet captivity in 1953.
