
Felix Uresti Gomez (1 July 1887 – 21 June 1916) was a Mexican revolutionary general during the Mexican Revolution. He was killed in action with the US Army at the Battle of Carrizal in 1916.
Biography[]
Felix Uresti Gomez was born in Gomez Farias, Coahuila, Mexico in 1887, and he was raised in San Salvador, Zacatecas. In 1913, during the Mexican Revolution, he joined Venustiano Carranza's army, and he remained loyal to the Carrancistas even after their October 1914 split. On 21 June 1916, while commanding a Mexican Army force of 400 troops, he decided to ambush an American force of Buffalo Soldiers who were stationed in Chihuahua during the Pancho Villa Expedition. In the ensuing battle, Gomez and 79 other Mexican soldiers were killed, but his men killed all of the American officers present and defeated the Americans, earning Gomez the nickname "the Hero of Carrizal".
