Felipe Cucombre Manzanedo was a general in the Bolivian Army and the Minister of Defense of Bolivia in 1983. In a 60 Minutes documentary featuring Matos Gutierrez, it was revealed that he had ties to the cocaine trade in South America and had bought a $12,000,000 villa in Lake Lucerne, Switzerland with his drug money.

Cucombre was a general in the Bolivian Army and, following Luis Garcia Meza Tejada's 1980 "Cocaine Coup", he was appointed Minister of Defense for the new military dictatorship. Cucombre had links to Bolivian drug lord Alejandro Sosa and other cartels, buying a $12,000,000 villa on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. Journalist Matos Gutierrez discovered this, presenting this case on an American television show to highlight the corruption in Bolivia.
