Biography[]
Felicity Hawkins was born in Bromland, Lincolnshire, England on 13 March 1951 to a working-class English family. Hawkins worked as a lunch lady before becoming a trade union activist and joining the Labour Party. Hawkins was affiliated with the socially conservative and economically socialist "Blue Labour" faction within the Labour Party; she shared many white working-class English people's concerns about an influx of South Asian immigrants to Bromland during the late 20th century and early 21st century. In 2013, she ran for the Bromland Town Council as the fifth candidate on the Labour list, and she was among ten Labour candidates to win seats on the thirty-seat council. However, Hawkins broke with her party to support Conservative candidate Arabella Marsh's bid for the mayoralty rather than back her party head, Gale Rogers.
