Fedayeen Saddam was a paramilitary force of Ba'athist Iraq that served from 1995 to 2003 as Saddam Hussein's irregular soldiers. 40,000 men served in the unit at its height, and the Fedayeen fought against the United States and its allies during the initial invasion of Iraq in the Iraq War. Uday Hussein served as its leader, and the Fedayeen Saddam's role as a fighting unit ended after the Battle of Baghdad in April 2003, with many former members joining the Iraqi insurgency.
