Fayez Banihammad (19 March 1977-11 September 2001) was an Emirati al-Qaeda operative who took part in the 9/11 attacks as a hijacker on United Airlines Flight 175.
Biography[]
Fayez Banihammad was born on 19 March 1977 in Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates to Muhammad Fayez Banihammad, a school principal. Banihammad married into the family of singer Hussain Al Jasmi, and in October 2000 he joined an aid organization that helped in the Philippines after spending time in the Asir Province of Saudi Arabia. Banihammad later joined al-Qaeda and in 2001 he headed to the United States to aid in the 9/11 attacks - he assisted in the hijacking of Flight 175 and died when the plane was flown into the South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.
