The Faustin crime family, also known as the Rascalov crime family, was a Russian Mafia family that controlled the Seagate, Brighton Beach, and Coney Island neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York City. The Mafia was founded back in the Soviet Union during the late 1980s and early 1990s, when former Soviet Army soldiers Mikhail Faustin and Dimitri Rascalov began selling marijuana to tourists in Red Square. During the 1990s, the family moved to the United States, setting up its base in Brooklyn. The gang opened fronts such as the Perestroika cabaret club and the Comrades Bar, and the Mafia rivaled the Petrovic crime family for power during the 2000s. In 2008, Mikhail Faustin was murdered by Rascalov after foolishly starting a war with the Petrovics, and Rascalov took over the family with the help of Ray Bulgarin. However, Niko Bellic waged war against the family after Rascalov and Bulgarin attempted to kill him in an ambush at Red Hook, and he destroyed the family's heroin trucks in New Jersey, prevented them from assassinating Bobby Jefferson at the Civic Center, and killed several of their enforcers. He destroyed the family when he killed Rascalov and the vast majority of his men on the Platypus cargo ship, and the Petrovics took over New York.
